Henry Miller and Ben Greaney clear cages from the slaughter area after a shipment of chickens were dropped off to me be processed at Greaneyâs Turkey Farm in Mercer on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021. The local slaughter house has almost tripled in business since the beginning of the pandemic with the disruption to the centralized meat distribution system. And finding workers has been a cinch with the arrival of the Greaneyâs new neighbors. The Millerâs and their community have filled an important roll in the area providing experienced meat processing and farming experience.
